The Family Tree Facebook application is a way to build your family tree, display your heritage and meet others that are using the facebook app as well. Adding a new member to your tree will open a new browser window where you can enter in the information for a relative, or choose a relative from your Facebook friends list. For displaying your heritage, you can select up to three tags to show, and this all centers around different countries your family hails from. There's also an option to show your favorite family members on your profile page, which could be a sensitive issue if Facebook were more of a familiy-oriented site!

While you can browse the Family Tree application to view other members that are also using the app, you cannot see their Family Tree. As a matter of fact, there is no information that can be shared on your Facebook profile outside of the heritage and favorite family members options. While this is great for security issues, it emphasizes the disconnect between social and private applications for Facebook, where private apps cannot be directly accessed from your own profile page.
